How To Create Finger Coils On Short Natural Hair

Finger Coils

Going natural is more than just learning how to cleanse, condition and care for your natural coils, kinks and curls. We still have to style our hair and we all want to look great. One of the easiest and most stylish natural hairstyles to rock when going natural is finger coils.

How To Do A Twist-Out On Natural Hair

Finger coils is a great style for in-between hair lengths, for new naturals and for anyone wanting a lasting style that looks great. The more effort you put into the style will yield longer lasting coils that will keep all eyes on you!
Finger coils give uniform coils on any hair length and hair texture. Completed on wash day, this style looks better as it ages. Because we wanted to show how well it looks on every texture, we are sharing a couple of videos on varying lengths and using different products.

GlamMzMore shares how she creates this amazing style on her 4C TWA and gives an in-depth description on what she uses and how.

Products Used:

Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave-In
Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Kusheama Nato De Coco Hair Treat (Cream)
ECOCO Eco Style Gel, Olive Oil

First spritz your whole hair with water. Next, apply a generous amount of the Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave-In and ensure that it’s distributed evenly. Next, it's time to lock in the moisture with the Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Kusheama Nato De Coco Hair Treat cream. After they are both applied it is time to administer the , apply the ECOCO Eco Style Gel, Olive Oil gel for hold.

If you desire, make a side part to give the style some structure. Now its time to take mini parts of your hair from the root and twirl them around your finger. Please ensure to twirl them in the direction you want the hair to lay and complete the coils all over your hair. When you’re finished let your hair air dry overnight with a satin bonnet. In the morning (if you like) apply some gel to lay down your baby hairs and she's left with a gorgeous style!

3 Long-Term Transitioning Natural Hairstyles To Rock When In A Rut

Cover hair at night just as you had the first night to keep the style for at least a week or even longer.

SplendidBeauty has gorgeous tapered short natural hair. She has a different texture from the video above and the length is slightly longer so you get another take and view on the style.

Products Used:
SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler
Wonder Curl Get Slick Hair Smoothie
Wonder Curl Get Set Hair Jelly

Creme of Nature Argan Oil Foaming Wrap Lotion

On freshly washed hair or clean hair, apply the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler, the Wonder Curl Get Slick Hair Smoothie and then the Wonder Curl Get Set Hair Jelly thoroughly into your hair. Hair should be wet/saturated. Place hair into small sections before starting the coiling. So to really define the front of her hair, she applies the Hair jelly before applying the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Foaming Wrap Lotion on her longer strands. She ensures they are fully detangled before creating her longer coils. Because the hair is much longer than the sides and back she twists at the roots or base before completing the regular coiling technique down the remainder of the strand. Her finished style is flawless!
Cover at night for this style as well with either a bonnet or sleep on a satin pillowcase and lightly fluff in the morning to revive any smooshed or flattened coils.
