Heat styling is very popular and easy to use but on natural hair it can be detrimental. New naturals should steer clear of direct heat because it can be very damaging to natural hair but there are two types of heat. There is direct heat and indirect heat and the differences are like night and day in how they affect natural hair.
What is direct heat?
“Heat that is directly touching the hair for usually used for drying the hair or straightening the natural curl or coil of the hair texture. Examples are a flat iron, a blow dryer (without a diffuser) or even a hot comb.” Seriously Natural
What is indirect heat?
Indirect heat is far less harmful and actually beneficial in many applications. Their benefits usually come in the form of increasing moisture to the hair or drying hair safely. Examples of indirect styling tools are hooded dryers, soft-bonnet dryers, hair steamers and heat caps. Seriously Natural
Many styles that are created with direct heat can be severely damaging to our natural tresses. It can cause dryness but also heat damage and that is Heat damage is hair that has lost it’s elasticity and curl and is limp and lifeless. Some have said it is heat training but contrary to what many believe, there is no such thing as heat training and that is merely just heat damage.
While many assume you can only straighten hair or stretch natural hair is through heat but there are tools that create amazing heat-free styles like the wonders of Curlformers.

I am a new natural and I definitely need help. I have been natural for three months and I am grateful for the opportunity to try Curlformers. I have been hearing great things about them and I think I'd like to try Herbal corkscrew.
"the" corkscrew.

I've been natural for a year and a half now. My hair was growing at first but now I'm losing it fast. I so need help. Hmm I've seen a lot of natural women using curl formers. I love the results I've seen on them.
