It’s that time again where many of us suffer from a dry scalp. Fall and winter are notoriously rough on our hair and scalps and while we should be thinking about holiday shopping, some of us are literally scratching our heads in dire need of relief! As a newbie, several of you are suffering from a few ailments and a dry, itchy or dandruff-ridden scalp may be one of them. Well, we want to nip this in the bud before the drying heat from inside and the drying weather outside becomes a serious problem.
To appease everyone, I have a few over the counter products that will do the trick and some DIY for our adventurous newbies who like to mix it up. There’s no right or wrong way when it comes to relieving a dry scalp unless you are talking about using harsh chemicals or trying to overload your scalp with hair grease. Our tips are all great ideas so let’s take a look at some of the best ways to get that scalp moisturized and dandruff-free!

Charcoal and tea tree oil are two amazing natural substances and this unique treatment infuses binchotan charcoal to draw impurities from the scalp and hair follicle, providing the foundation for optimal scalp health. Jojoba & Tea Tree Oil
Two powerhouses for hair ailments, jojoba oil and tea tree oils are excellent for hair and scalp and work well together. Simply mix a quarter to half dollar-sized amount of jojoba oil into your palms and add 2 drops of tea tree oil. Spread evenly between your palms to warm and then massage into the scalp in circular motions. You can do this 30 minutes prior to shampooing or simply use as an overnight treatment before cleansing your hair and scalp.
You can also just add several drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo bottle or even adding a few drops to a dollop of shampoo prior to washing. After applying your shampoo, leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse it out and yes, the smell will dissipate.
Apple Cider Vinegar or ACV is another popular ingredient in Natural hair recipes so this is no surprise how it helps with a dry scalp. Simply use 2-3 tablespoons of ACV and a cotton ball. With the help of a cotton ball, apply the vinegar on your scalp and massage your scalp with your fingers for about 2-3 minutes. Leave the vinegar on your scalp for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water. This can be done weekly until you feel a difference.
Another easy recipe with the ingredients are already in everyone’s kitchen this dry scalp remedy is a tad bit messy but super easy to create. Simply use 1 egg, 2-3 tablespoons unflavored yogurt and 1 tablespoon honey. Beat the egg along with the yogurt to get a smooth paste before adding the honey and mix well. Apply this mask on your scalp and hair evenly and allow to sit for 1/2 hour. Clean hair as usual and you can repeat this weekly for best benefits.
