How To Get Perfect Curl Wand Curls On Natural Hair

Natural hair newbies are always on the hunt for new hair styles and I love sharing gorgeous pics of naturals and the responses has always been good. Well, a few days ago I decided to show Curl Wand curls and the response was overwhelming! A curl wand is a great way to get a uniform curl if you prefer a particular curl like a coily, springy spiral.

How to Make Your Blowout Last Longer & Stay Moisturized On Natural Hair

I mean, everyone wanted to know how to do it, where was the tutorial and who were these gorgeous women.  Well, most of you know I no longer use heat so no tutorial from me but you always know I come with the knowledge and more than wiling to share videos on tutorials that will benefit all.

What is the Curl Wand?

It is a curling iron without the clip.  It is a heat tool to curl your hair without clipping it in place and in turn create smooth, full, spirals.  I hear the transition from a regular curling iron to a curling wand can be difficult but with amazing curls and spirals like the ones above, you at least gotta give it a try, right?  You know I make sure to keep you in the “know”, so I’ve done some research and found the top ones for natural hair.

What’s the difference between a curl wand and a curling iron, you ask? A curling iron has a clasp and is used to create polished ringlets to your hair. A curling wand has no clasp and is used to create natural waves. The wave produced is more undone and polished than the style you could achieve with a clamped curling iron.  Also, waves are popular and regular curls from a curling iron are not.

L’ange Le Cinq Curling Wand Set In Blush

If you are like me, you prefer variety. That’s why I am mentioning the L’ange Le Cinq Curling Wand Set In Blush first on the list of curl wands to try. These 100% rose gold titanium wands heat up quickly and evenly to penetrate your hair’s cuticle and provide long-lasting styles. Negative ion technology tames frizz and seals moisture in your hair – which is especially great for thick and hard-to-curl hair. It’s sure to satisfy all your curling needs! Heat protectant is ALWAYS recommended.

Cortex 4in1 Pro Ceramic Clipless Curling Iron Set

The above set is kinda pricey, so I wanted to share another curl wand set that may be more in your price range. Well under $100, the Cortex 4in1 Pro Ceramic Clipless Curling Iron Set has four Professional Ceramic/Tourmaline Interchangeable Heads with Ionic Technology.  This styling tool set has adjustable Digital Temperature Display with Programmable Auto Shut-off and 11′ Heat Resistant Textile Cord.   Professional Salon Model with Far-infrared technology for consistent heat distribution

Remington Pearl Ceramic Professional Curling Wand

Remington CI9538 Pro 1″-1.5″ Pearl Ceramic Conical Curling Wand

Now, I have seen many on videos using the one above.  It is the Remington Pearl Ceramic Professional Curling Wand and it comes with a glove and it’s pink!  Professional Pearl Ceramic for Less Damage and Faster Salon Results.  Ceramic Coating for Even, Consistent Heat, crushed pearl infused barrel for smooth, soft waves.   Super popular and extremely inexpensive, this is a fave for a reason.

Honestly, you have to see for yourself which one would be better so I am sharing some videos below on some of the best curl wand curls I have seen.

How to Use a Curling Wand on Natural Hair (No Blowdrying)

Natural Chica shows us how it’s done without blow drying and that is a plus since too much heat can be bad for our tresses.  She starts on an old twist-out and does pull out her hand-held Q-Redew steamer.  Her hair is gorgeous and I love how she explains everything so well.
